Shirley Sherrod flap is sorry spectacle of racial rancor

Artist Andy Warhol declared that in the future everyone would have 15 minutes of fame. Department of Agriculture administrator, had her allotted moment in the spotlight, but it was 15 minutes of infamy, not fame. And 15 minutes of unjustified infamy at that.

She was the victim of what one liberal commentator described as "the conservative noise machine." The right wing noise makers did indeed play the key, central role in putting Sherrod in the public pillory and inviting all to pelt her with derision and vituperation.

The sorry spectacle started when Andrew Breitbart, a right wing gadfly blogger, posted an excerpt of a speech that the Georgia based Sherrod made to the local NAACP a year ago. In the excerpt, Sherrod seemed to be reveling in telling an anecdote about how, many years ago while working for a farm aid group, she connived to withhold assistance to a white farmer on account of his race.

The excerpt spread like a brushfire in a drought, from one conservative talk show to the next, and soon reached the White House front door. A panicky President Obama signed off on a recommendation by a panicky Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack that Sherrod be summarily fired. And she was.

But now for the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey used to say. As a more complete "Anadrol 50" transcript of her remarks showed, they were made in the context Buy Injectable Steroids With Paypal of urging that racial division be rejected. Blacks and whites "have to work together" and not turn poverty issues into racial issues, she said.

"It is sad," she told her NAACP audience, "we don't have a room full of whites and blacks here tonight."

Secretary Vilsack and President Obama were profusely apologetic for their "Anadrol 50" hair trigger response and offered Sherrod her federal administrative post back.

Breitbert, who lit the brush fire, said only that he "felt bad" for her and resumed his right wing ranting. Fox commentator Bill Australian Levitra O'Reilly was more forthright in acknowledging he was too quick to pick up the story and belabor it.

Our guess is that the Obama administration responded swiftly in firing Sherrod because the administration took such a recent thrashing in the right wing blogosphere and beyond for not pursuing a voter intimidation case against New Black Panther Party thugs.

Our theory on that one, as we stated here previously, is that the administration was reluctant to put the lunatic fringe Panthers in the spotlight and give them their 15 minutes of fame. But this is only a theory, one that gives the administration the benefit of the doubt, since the administration has failed to give a convincing account of itself in that matter.

The national NAACP also went off half cocked and rushed to denounce Sherrod. Our theory here is that the has been Dianabol Oral Steroid Side Effects civil rights organization was trying to compensate for its sweeping, strident charges of racism against the Tea Party. This, too, is only our theory. The NAACP itself offered the lame alibi that it had been "snookered" by Fox News' over excited coverage of the Sherrod controversy. Problem with that alibi is that the NAACP's denunciation preceded Fox News' coverage.

The long "Buy Cheap Jintropin Online" and the short of it is that nobody comes out of this one looking good. Which is how it inevitably is when "racial dialogue" degenerates into divisive fulminations, as it, alas, so often does.
